Why the Name?

The "Velvet Attic" represents the premium, polished promise that tech companies sell us—a beautiful, seamless home experience. But pulling back the curtain reveals the tangled mess of wires, competing protocols, and proprietary hubs hidden in the attic. We bring clarity to that chaos.

Our compatibility matrices, protocol deep-dives, and hub comparisons are driven entirely by data and real-world testing. We are not affiliated with Apple Inc., Google LLC, Amazon.com Inc., Samsung Electronics, or any other IoT hardware manufacturer. When a device fails to meet its packaging claims, we report it.
